We’ve received this email from Essex County Council’s Passenger Transport unit. The consultation is about removing the 250 and 251 bus services on Monday to Saturday. You can read the consultation document here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0DkKg1k5kgobVpGalhmYkxYOG8
Dear Stakeholder
Notification of Local Bus Consultation 31 May 2017 – 03 July 2017 Service 250 Debden/Loughton to Waltham Cross and Service 251 Upshire, Waltham Abbey to Waltham Cross
Essex County Council carried out a review of its contracted services and consulted on changes to these services during August and September 2016. The consultation included options for some services to operate at reduced levels of service in an effort to obtain a sustainable bid that met the maximum level the council will support. This is set at £5:00 for each passenger being carried after all fares are taken into account. (The policy can be found at: www.essex.gov.uk/busreview ).
However, in the subsequent tender, the cost of providing a number of these services rose to the point where the tax payer would be paying more than £5.00 for each passenger carried, even allowing for the reduced level of service options.
Therefore in the case of the services outlined above, the County Council is carrying out public consultation on their future. The consultation will run until 03 July 2017. The questionnaire will be available from ECC libraries, or online: https://surveys.essexinsight.org.uk/busconsultation2017 or by phoning: 03457 430 430. Essex has also asked bus operators to display posters on the buses concerned.
Please see attached copy of the posters for your information and details of the consultation attached.
Thank you in advance for publicising this and if you have any further queries, please contact passenger.transport@essex.gov.uk.
Yours sincerely
