Last year Essex County Council published a first draft of their Cycling Action Plan for Epping Forest.
EFTAG Cycling have sent an initial response to the team at Essex Highways that are working on the Plan, pointing out:
- national and international best-practice that should be used in designing new schemes;
- some places where we don’t agree with the Action Plan’s assessment of current cycling infrastructure in Epping Forest;
- that the quality of the schemes doesn’t meet the Essex Cycling Strategy’s commitment to “Continental Standard” infrastructure; and
- a list of things that are missing from the Plan, like 20mph zones and a ‘safe routes to schools‘ strategy.
The council’s team are currently working on a new draft of the plan, and we’re asking for the public’s help to give them feedback about the specific schemes that are under consideration.
