Epping Forest Transport Action Group are pleased to report that Essex County Council is consulting on a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) covering Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell – and it contains almost all the cycling routes we’ve been asking for in those towns.
The consultation also covers Waltham Abbey, so if you know both areas, please fill the consultation out twice.
If these LCWIPs are agreed, government funding will at last be unlocked for our area to get improvements making cycling and walking safer and more attractive. More cycling and walking means less congestion, and quicker journey times for everyone that needs to use their car or van – a vital investment in our economy, not just our health and wellbeing.
So please go on to the Council’s “Safer, Greener, Healthier” web site and fill out their consultation. We hope you can tell the Council that you Strongly Agree with their cycling route proposals. We think the walking network should be more dense around schools, especially primaries, and our supporters might want to mention that in their response too.
But you’ll know where the council could go further, to make the best connections for walking or wheeling where you live. Please mention those in the additional comments – or drop a pin on one of their interactive maps.
