School streets

A School Street means closing a road to all or nearly all vehicle traffic for the times that children arrive and leave School, resulting in safer streets and better air quality. EFTAG have conducted a desktop survey of all schools in the Epping Forest district and have found that 49% of sites could have some form of School Street with at least five sites that could be implemented fairly easily.

London Boroughs have been bringing forward a hundreds of School Streets over the last three years and it’s time to consider these same measures in Essex.
